Our Process

We know it’s not easy to select the right school for your child. Our admission process makes it easier! The process begins with your visit to our school. Following your tour, if you decide to enroll your child, you’ll complete an application.

The Educational Choice (EdChoice) Scholarship Program offers students in grades K – 12 the chance to attend a private school for little or no cost. Students from lower-rated (designated) public schools qualify for these scholarships.

The EdChoice Expansion Program is an income-based program. It offers private school scholarships to students whose families qualify financially. Please study the income requirements to see if you may be eligible.

The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in 1999 to create a permanent source of tuition assistance for area families seeking a choice in education for their children.

Steps for Applying for the EdChoice Scholarship and EdChoice Expansion Programs:

  1. Determine if your child is currently attending a public school that is listed on the Designated School List for the 2020-2021 school year. If so, complete steps 4-6.   
  2. If your child is not assigned to a designated school next year, you may still be eligible for the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship. (For students entering grades K-6 in the 2019-2020 school year.) Check the Income Requirements Document for more information. Complete steps 4-7.
  3. If your child is currently enrolled in a community school (a public charter school) and is assigned to a designated school next year, you may also be eligible for the EdChoice Scholarship. Complete steps 4-6. 
  4. Fill out the New Student Application Form
  5. Include a legal copy of your child’s birth certificate
  6. Include a utility bill that meets the qualifications for address verification
  7. Complete the income verification form (For EdChoice Expansion Scholarship applicants only).

Steps for Reapplying for the EdChoice Scholarship and EdChoice Expansion Programs: 

  1. Complete the EdChoice Scholarship Renewal Paperwork (It is the same document for both EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion   Scholarships. You only need to fill out the income portion and send in the income verification paperwork if you are reapplying         for the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship. )
  2. Include a utility bill that meets the qualifications for

How to Apply for the Northwest Ohio Scholarship: (If ineligible for the EdChoice Scholarship Programs)

  1. Visit the NWOSF website and follow the link on the bottom of the webpage to the online application. Make sure to determine income eligibility prior to completing the application.
  2. If you are already receiving an NOSF scholarship DO NOT APPLY.

Dress Code:

Christian ideals suggest that modesty, neatness, and refinement should characterize the dress and appearance of students attending Toledo Junior Academy. National surveys have shown significant benefits of a dress code policy, including improvement in discipline, increased student safety, decreased peer pressure, increased student achievement, and improved attendance. Given these advantages, Toledo Junior Academy has adopted the following dress code policy. 

Standards of Dress

  1. Uniforms are to be worn at all times, except on specified days.

  2. If makeup is worn it should result in a natural appearance.

  3. Chewing gum is not allowed.

  4. Hats are not to be worn in the school building.

  5. “Hoodies” (hooded sweatshirts) are not to be worn in the school building. 

Girls

  • Jumpers, Slacks, Skirts or modest Walking shorts

  • Short/Skirts: Navy, Black, or Khaki. Shorts and skirts must fall well below the fingertips.

  • Tops: Shirts, polo or turtleneck or dresses with sleeves and collars in the following solid colors: White, Red, Light Blue, Hunter Green, or Navy

  • Sweaters: White, Red, Light Blue, or Navy.

  • Shoes: Shoes with non-marking soles (closed heel and closed toe). No wheels.

  • Socks: Socks or hose are required. Acceptable sock colors are White, Red, Light Blue, or Navy.

Boys

  • Slacks or modest Walking Shorts: Navy or Khaki.

  • Tops: Shirts, polo or turtleneck with sleeves and collars in the following solid colors: White, Red, Light Blue, Hunter Green, or Navy.

  • Sweaters: White, Red, Light Blue, or Navy.

  • Shoes: Shoes with non-marking soles (closed heel and closed toe.)

  • Socks: Socks are required. Acceptable sock colors are White, Red, Light Blue, or Navy.

  • Shoes with wheels are not appropriate. All wheels must be left at home. Any found at school (even after school hours) will be confiscated.

Dress Down Fridays

Bottoms: Uniform pants/skirts/jumpers in Khaki, Navy Blue, and Black OR Blue Jeans/Jean skirts/shorts that fall well below the fingertips with no rips, tears, etc, may be worn. Joggers/sweats/leggings, etc. are not acceptable as bottoms–even if they are in the uniform colors.

Tops: TJA logo t-shirt. During colder months, a long sleeved, solid colored shirt in: White, Light blue, Navy Blue, Hunter Green, Black, and Red may be worn under the t-shirt.

Dress Code Infractions 

Students who dress out of code will take home a note to notify parents of each infraction. At the 3rd infraction, parents will be called to pick the child up from school to go change clothes. Subsequent infractions may be taken to the school board as a discipline issue.
